8 year-old girl:

I first brought my daughter to Thinkers when she was having a very hard time learning to read. Her Kindergarten teacher told me not to worry about it yet. I am so glad I trusted my gut and got my daughter the help and support we needed and even more thankful that we found Danel. I can’t imagine where she would be today if we hadn’t.

She learned to read using Phono-graphix and increased her fluency and spelling with Master the Code. She has made tremendous progress.

Thinkers has given her more confidence and made her realize that she can do it. My daughter does wish that she didn’t need to go to a tutor, but she always enjoys being at Thinkers.

8 year-old boy:

When I brought my son to Thinkers a little over a year ago he was not reading at all. He was at the end of first grade.

Thinkers has taught my son to read! His reading skills have become more automatic. His writing and spelling have also improved. It is effecting all his subjects. We now are doing tutoring at Thinkers to catch him up in the areas that he was missing before because he could not read.

His confidence has grown knowing that with the extra help he gets at Thinkers he will have success at school. He has always been a social child, but the teachers have commented on how much more he participates in class now.

Thinkers has done a great job of working with my son’s strengths while still addressing his weaknesses.

10 year-old girl:

My daughter was tested and found to be dyslexic. After much searching and researching, we found Thinkers and the PACE program. Even though my daughter was barely reading and had very low self-esteem, they showed such enthusiasm after a few sessions I continued in the program. My daughter continued over the next three months. She was reluctant to return to school as she remembered how frustrating the previous year had been.
Within weeks of returning to school my daughter’s self esteem continued to be high. Several of her remarks confirmed that the PACE program had made a significant difference in her classroom abilities and self esteem.

She was never reluctant to participate in the program. It was fun and she didn’t realize the skills she was learning and continues to use.

We have such confidence in the staff at Thinkers and the PACE program, that we continue with tutorials.

I personally believe the investment now while my child is in elementary school will continue to reap great rewards in the future!

Thank you Thinkers!
Sincerely,
PC

11 year-old girl:

I was first referred to Thinkers by UT Early Childhood Development Center.

Since attending Thinkers my daughter has greatly improved her reading and writing skills. Her grades at school have improved, she participates more in class and now I hear constant praises from her teachers. I have seen my daughter become more confident and have more social interaction with children her age. She is also more eager to assume leadership roles.

PACE was so successful for my daughter that I decided to see if it would help my older son as well.

Again, I have seen improved grades, less time spent on homework and he is less stressed about school assignments. He is also more self confident and manages himself better.

I wish I would have brought them to Thinkers sooner. It is the best investment we have ever made!

13 year-old boy:

My son has struggled with school since he was in Kindergarten. At first I thought he would mature or grow out of it. Then I blamed his teachers, his school and finally myself. If only this…if only that.

Over the years I had testing done, tried different schools and different tutoring places. The problem was they would help him with current assignments and he would pass his classes, but the issue was still there. He was still behind his peers, still hated school and wasn’t making progress.

When I brought him to Thinkers as a 4th grader barely reading, I was very skeptical I had a good friend who sang Thinkers praises and told her I would give it a try. Within 3 weeks my son was reading. Before long, he was reading well.

Then Thinkers began to address other issues my son struggled in school with. I wish again I could say that poof overnight Thinkers made my child’s struggles disappear, but that is not the case. But I can say that they never gave up. They have completed several different programs with my son and each one has had a positive impact. Sometimes it takes time to address the layers of learning issues going on.

The people at Thinkers care about my child. They look for ways to make him successful. He loves coming here!

Even though my son still struggles with school at times, he is nowhere near the place he was when this journey began and I know this is because of Thinkers.

5 year-old girl:

My 5 year old daughter was unable to recognize her letters or numbers when we started coming to Thinkers even though she had been attending pre-school for a year. The pre-school had even suggested that my daughter had a learning disability. In 3 months, she was not only able to recognize all her letters and numbers, but she is reading 5 letter words and 1st grade books.

She is now more confident in herself. She is always happy to come to Thinkers. Now she is enjoying learning.

The staff at Thinkers really works with every child and they do care. Most of all, you see results. I wish I had brought my daughter to Thinkers earlier.

My son is 8 years old and is 2 grade levels behind in Reading and Math. He has been diagnosed with dyslexia and expressive/receptive language disorder. We had tried other tutoring places when a friend referred us to Thinkers.

I have already noticed that he is beginning to pick up and retain information more smoothly and has not even finished the program yet.

I would tell other parents to save themselves some money and have an evaluation at Thinkers to determine where the weakness is. They test for underlying issues that effect learning…not just the academic areas. I have been very satisfied with the staff at Thinkers, and so has my son.

9 year-old boy:

Thinkers was referred to me by one of my clients whose daughter was having some issues with reading. My son has had speech and other learning disabilities since entering the school system. I had tried other learning and reading programs with very little success. I initially thought that I would just use Thinkers as a supplement over the summer to keep building on his phonic skills. Their program Phono-graphix was logical and easy for me to explain to Alex and fit right into his style of learning.

Fluency became a major issue with Alex entering the 3rd grade and when I brought this up to our instructor she suggested an additional program which concentrated on sight words, phonics and timing to help build quick recognition skills. Alex has in 4 months increased his ability to read more fluently and make more of an effort to attack multi-syllable words. He is currently working on developing greater comprehension skills, both verbally and written. I have seen a definite improvement in his speech and sentence length.

I personally have recommended Thinkers to other parents and they have called me back also with high praises. Thank you for your care and understanding.

My son was not interested in reading at all and he struggled with hearing sounds when spelling words. After working at Thinkers and doing Master the Code his spelling has improved 100%. His reading is also much improved. He actually enjoys reading now! He is more confident in his studies and homework.

I would tell any parent to talk with Thinkers. Their process of testing will help you find a program to help your child improve their academic skills.

Keep up the good service!

12 year-old boy:

My son Jonathan (12 yrs) has been diagnosed with neurological-learning disabilities. Thinkers was referred to us by his school. His reading level was around grade 1. He goes to a school that specializes in neurological issues.

One can only imagine how difficult it is to not be able to read at grade level. I expected this to be a very difficult experience for him and Ms. Effie. It took only one session with Ms. Effie for me to see that this was going to work. He bonded with Ms. Effie on that 1st lesson. She set the rules and he has followed them. He has continued to make progress in this giant puzzle of reading. It’s been a long journey.

One of the programs Ms. Effie used was Phono-Graphix. Jonathan has never NOT wanted to come to Thinkers and we are here 4 days a week. He now has a good attitude about reading and he is reading.

Ms. Effie has made a profound difference in “our” life. I would definitely recommend Thinkers to others.
