2008 Summer Courses
This summer, in addition to our regular programs and tutorials, Thinkers
Education Center is pleased to offer specialized courses for students. If
you don’t see exactly what you are looking for, don’t worry,
call us and we will customize a program to your child’s specific needs.
| Ages | Title | Description |
| 2nd grade –High School | Reading Skills | This course will focus on skills needed to be a successful reader. Each session will highlight a different reading skill, while reinforcing previously taught skills. Topics to be covered include making predictions, vocabulary, context clues, sequencing, main idea, cause and effect, drawing conclusions and inferences. |
| 1st grade-High School | Good Books | This course focuses on age appropriate literature. Titles can be taken from summer reading lists or from our list of great books. Your child will be engaged in award winning literature that they will love to read! |
| K-5th grade | Math Basics | Tired of counting on fingers? This course goes back to the basics and teaches key facts needed to be successful in Math. |
| 3rd-8th grade | Math Reasoning | This problem solving course incorporates facts with higher level math skills. It will help your child solve math word problems by deciding what the problem is asking and then following the proper procedures to solve it. |
| Pre K-4th grade | Handwriting | This course was designed to focus on fine motor skills needed to improve handwriting. It is set to music and kids just love it! |
| 3rd-High School | Creative Writing | Need help writing??? This course will focus on several pre- writing strategies, creating a story and editing. |
| Pre K-3rdGrade | Spatial Awareness | This course will better enable the child to identify those things that numerals and spatial words (near, far, above, below, more, less) represent. It was also help to organize information on the basis of logic. Finally, it will assist in identifying features that link one concrete fact to another. |
| 3rd-8th grade | Critical Thinking | This course will entertain, but challenge, your child with logical puzzles, brain stretchers and reasoning problems to sharpen both left and right- brained thinking. |
| 4th grade and older | Vocabulary Skills | This course will cover root words, origins, prefixes, suffixes and other tricks to determining word meanings. |
